LOTOS Asfalt invests in Jasło
In the last several years, LOTOS Asfalt spent PLN 32 million on the modernization and development of its production branch in Jasło. The highlight of the investment programme is the commissioning of a modern system for modified bitumen production.
Jasło has a throughput of 300 thousand tonnes of bitumen, including 60 thousand tonnes of modified bitumen. This quantity of bitumen should fulfil the demand of both domestic and foreign road construction companies.
LOTOS Asfalt is the only producer of bitumen in Central Europe that has decided to increase its production capacities. The opportunity to expand came with the development of the Gdańsk refinery within the 10+ Programme. Back in 2003, the refinery in Gdańsk produced less than 300 thousand tonnes of bitumen per year. Seven years later this figure reached almost 1 million tonnes.
Only classical mineral bitumen had previously been produced in Jasło, as such products were ordered by road construction companies. The few orders placed for modified bitumen were handled by LOTOS Asfalt, located in Czechowice-Dziedzice.
The location of production in Jasło makes it possible to react quickly to the growing demand due to road investment projects in south-east Poland and gives the ability to develop sales on the Romanian or Bulgarian markets even more actively. Another drive comes from shipping bitumen from Jasło both by road and rail, which makes it possible to deliver goods efficiently, reliably and on time.
