LOTOS Asfalt company provided within 10 days over 2 thousand tonnes of the most technologically advanced modified bitumen MODBIT 45/80-55 for the reconstruction of the runway of 2.515 metres in length.

The Vilnius Airport is the most important airport in Lithuania. The last large-scale reconstruction works on the runway took place more than 12 years ago. Last year, the airport provided services to over 3 million passengers. Once the renovation is completed, the airport will be able to serve to more than 5 million travellers per year.

This is yet another modernization of a European airport, which LOTOS Asfalt supplied with high quality PMB.

In 2015 PMB MODBIT was delivered to the military airport in Dęblin as well as it was applied in renovation of a runway in Gdańsk-Rębiechowo Airport. In the past bitumen products from LOTOS were also used for the construction and modernisation of airport runways in Rzeszow, Warsaw, Bydgoszcz and Szczecin. Outside Poland, LOTOS bitumen was delivered to two Romanian airports in Tulcea and Suceava.

Modified bitumen is applied as a binding material in bituminous-mineral mixtures intended for construction and maintenance of roads, airports and other hard surfaces. Modified bitumen MODBIT manufactured by LOTOS is applied in airports modernisation due to its enhanced performance parametres. The product shows increased resistance to plastic deformations (ruts) and to low temperature cracking.

Since its beginnings (2004), LOTOS Asfalt has sold around 9.6 million tonnes of bitumen (including circa 1.8 million tonnes of modified bitumen).
